The pattern shows the shape similar to a natural building material. The concrete stamp patterns are made by printing the concrete shortly after it has been dispensed with a concrete stamp. Most of the modern concrete stamp patterns are made of polyurethane. The older 'cookie cutter' style stamps were made of various metals. The old style stamps lacked the capability of forming a natural stone texture. Concrete stamping is the procedure in which concrete stamp patterns are made by using concrete stamps. Concrete stamp patterns are placed on the concrete after the application of the color release. The patterns stamps are impelled into the concrete. These stamps are then removed to set down the pattern in the stamped concrete.

In order to make concrete stamp patterns, addition of colors is required in the stamped concrete. Two types of color have to be added in the concrete. These are base colors and stamp colors. Base color is the primary color, which is chosen to reflect the appearance of natural building material. Accent color is the secondary color, it is added to produce texture and show additional building material like grout in stamped concrete. In most of the cases, the concrete stamp patterns are made to look like normal building products. There are many ways to personalize a particular type of stamp whether it is flagstone, brick, natural stone or any other natural building product. It may be homemade stamp or recycled stamp.

For making a concrete stamp, one first has to find a design according to his/her choice. The hardest part of making concrete stamp patterns is to wait until the concrete gets hard enough. One should try to make a new and creative stamps around his/her house. However, it is necessary to be sure about the stamp before stamping it onto the permanent surface.
